Alta Forest Products Announces Promotions and New President/CEO

Alta Forest Products announced the promotion of 4 company managers and the retirement of its current President and CEO.

Mike Pedersen will retire as President and CEO on April 1, 2019. Mike Pedersen started as part of the clean-up crew at the Morton WA mill and worked his way through the ranks spanning a 47 year career with Alta Forest Products.

Kobe Yamamoto has been named President & CEO effective April 1, 2019. Kobe Yamamoto has 28 years of experience in the building products industry. Kobe Yamamoto holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial management from Waseda University in Tokyo Japan and holds an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College. He joined Alta Forest Products in 2018 when it was purchased by Itochu Corporation.

Todd Shipp has been promoted to Vice President of Operations. Todd Shipp joined the company in 1997 serving in several leadership roles including Rightwood Sales Manager and most recently Log Procurement Manager.

Howard Hoffman has been promoted to Director of Manufacturing, as well as retaining his position of Operations Manager at our Morton WA facility. Howard Hoffman has been in the fence and sawmill industry for more than 42 years while working 29 of those years at Alta Forest Products.

Eric Oien has been promoted to Log Procurement Manager. Eric Oien has been in the log and sawmill industry for 12 years. Eric holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Washington.

I would like to thank Mike Pedersen for his significant contribution to Alta Forest Products for the last 45+ years. He leaves a lasting legacy at Alta Forest Products with developing our next generation of leaders. This plan has been in the works for over a year while working with our executive team on a transition plan. Through his leadership I am excited to fill positions in our company with the current employees he has hired over the years. This continuity of leadership enables Alta Forest Products to lead by example and best serve its customers, employees and suppliers into the future.
