Report: R Y Timber, Inc. Indefinitely Closing Townsend Mill

According to local news reports, R Y Timber, Inc. (HQ: Townsend, MT), will be indefinitely closing their Townsend Mill due to timber supply problems.

The Independent Record reports the layoffs will begin in April and 70 employees will be affected. It was noted that the “Townsend mill will remain intact until the company has adequate timber to bring it back to full production. In the meantime, logs from existing timber sales will go to the company’s Livingston mill and will allow that mill to operate two shifts at full production.”
