AWC: House Natural Resources Deputy Staff Director Joins AWC to Lead Government Affairs
Will Layden, most recently the Deputy Staff Director of the House Committee on Natural Resources, has joined the American Wood Council (AWC) as Vice President, Government Affairs, where he will lead strategic federal and state legislative and administrative government affairs initiatives.
“Will has been a thought leader on policies that impact AWC member companies. His role on the House Natural Resources Committee has given him tremendous knowledge about our industry and allowed him to hit the ground running. I’m excited to have him on board to expand our advocacy footprint and amplify the voice of the wood products industry on the many important issues facing our membership,” said AWC President and CEO Jackson Morrill.
Will’s first day at AWC was January 9. Prior to his role on the Committee, Will was Senior Legislative Assistant for Congressman Bruce Westerman, running his Natural Resources and Agriculture portfolio. Among his tasks for the Congressman, Will led the House Working Forest Caucus.
