Obituary: John Frederick Lemen

John Frederick Lemen, 85, of Pawnee, Illinois, passed away Thursday, May 4, 2023, at his home. He was born Sept. 3, 1937, in Pawnee, the son of Myron B. and Ruth V. Baker Lemen. He was preceded in death by his parents.

John was a member of Pawnee United Methodist Church and was a U.S. Army veteran. He attended Pawnee High School, graduated from Culver Military Academy in 1955 and Princeton University with his master’s degree. John owned and operated Pawnee Lumber for 59 years. He also was an avid New York Yankees fan and a member of the Animal Protective League.

John is survived by his lumber yard family and cousins.

Cremation rites will be accorded. A celebration of life gathering will be held at a later date. Burial will be at Horse Creek Cemetery in Pawnee at a later date as well.
