Madison’s Reporter: Annual Year-End Slowdown Keeps Lumber Prices Flat

In the week ending December 1, 2023, the price of Western S-P-F 2×4 #2&Btr KD (RL) was US$414 mfbm, said forest products industry price guide newsletter Madison’s Lumber Reporter. This is flat from the previous week.

That week’s price is up by +$11, or +3%, from one month ago when it was US$403 mfbm.

Compared to the same week last year, when it was US$400 mfbm, that week’s price is up by +$14, or +3%. Compared to two years ago when it was US$710 mfbm, that week’s price is down by -$296 or -42%.

In the week ending December 1, 2023, the price of Southern Yellow Pine East Side 2×4 #2&Btr KD (RL) was US$430 mfbm. This is up by +$15, or +4%,  from the previous week when it was US$415 mfbm.

That week’s price is up by +$16, or +4%, from one month ago when it was US$414 mfbm.

Compared to the same week last year, when it was US$445 mfbm, that week’s price is down by -$15, or -3%. Compared to two years ago when it was US$835 mfbm, that week’s price is down by -$405, or 49%.
