Forest City Trading Group Announces Retirement of Craig Johnston

Forest City Trading Group, LLC (Portland, Oregon) announced that Craig Johnston will retire from his position as Chief Executive Officer, effective February 1, 2024. After an exceptional tenure of 42 years, Johnston will step down from his role, passing the baton to his successor, Derrick Coder.

Johnston has been instrumental in guiding FCTG through significant growth and transformation during his tenure. His leadership, vision, and unwavering commitment have positioned the company for continued success in the future. Under his leadership, FCTG became an employee-owned company and developed into one of the largest wholesale building products trading and distribution companies in North America. Johnston will continue to share his decades of experience and knowledge in his role as Chairman of the Board.

In conjunction with the retirement announcement, the Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Derrick Coder as the new Chief Executive Officer of FCTG, effective February 1, 2024. Coder brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of leadership as the former CFO, COO, and current President of FCTG. He began his career at Deloitte and Touche, focusing on the commodity trading and risk management industry. He later served as the VP of Risk Management for Avista Energy and the GM of the Commercial and Industrial Gas and Power division of Shell Energy before coming to FCTG in 2007.
