Madison’s Reporter: Slow Demand Keeps Lumber Prices Flat
Supply, demand, and pricing in the North American lumber market were all resoundingly flat this week. The only noticeable corrections were in plywood.
In the week ending February 2, 2024, the price of Western S-P-F 2×4 #2&Btr KD (RL) was US$442 mfbm, said forest products industry price guide newsletter Madison’s Lumber Reporter. This is flat from the previous week when it was $442.
That week’s price is up by +$3, or +1%, from one month ago when it was US$445 mfbm.
Compared to the same week last year, when it was US$460 mfbm, that week’s price is down by -$18, or -4%.
In the week ending February 2, 2024, the price of Southern Yellow Pine East Side 2×4 #2&Btr KD (RL) was US$400 mfbm. This is down by -$17, or -4%, from the previous week when it was US$417 mfbm.
That week’s price is down by -$48, or -11%, from one month ago when it was US$448 mfbm.

Compared to the same week last year, when it was US$482 mfbm, that week’s price is down by -$82, or -17%.
