Commodity prices were flat or on either side of the previous week’s levels as the standoff between supply and demand persisted. Players waited with bated breath for the floodgates to open.
In the week ending February 23, 2024, the price of Western S-P-F 2×4 #2&Btr KD (RL) was US$442 mfbm, said forest products industry price guide newsletter Madison’s Lumber Reporter. This is flat from the previous week when it was $442.
That week’s price is down by -$3, or -1%, from one month ago when it was US$445 mfbm.
Compared to the same week last year, when it was US$417 mfbm, that week’s price is up by +$25, or +6%. Compared to two years’ ago when it was $1,330, that week’s price is down by -$888, or -67%.
In the week ending February 23, 2024, the price of Southern Yellow Pine East Side 2×4 #2&Btr KD (RL) was US$410 mfbm. This is up by +$7, or +2%, from the previous week when it was US$403 mfbm.
That week’s price is down by -$38, or -8%, from one month ago when it was US$448 mfbm.

Compared to the same week last year, when it was US$517 mfbm, that week’s price is down by -$107, or -21%. Compared to two years’ ago when it was $1,400, that week’s price is down by -$990, or -71%.
