Most lumber traders reported uninspiring business; the litmus test of Memorial Day weekend yielded mixed results.
In the week ending May 31, 2024, the price of Western S-P-F 2×4 #2&Btr KD (RL) was US$384 mfbm, said forest products industry price guide newsletter Madison’s Lumber Reporter. This is flat from the previous week when it was $384.
That week’s price is down -$46, or -11%, from one month ago when it was US$430 mfbm.
Compared to the same week last year, when it was US$350 mfbm, that week’s price is up +$34, or +10%. Compared to two years ago when it was $700, that week’s price is down by -$316, or -45%.
In the week ending May 31, 2024, the price of Southern Yellow Pine East Side 2×4 #2&Btr KD (RL) was US$370 mfbm. This is up +$5, or +1%, from the previous week when it was US$365 mfbm.
That week’s price is up +$13, or +3%, from one month ago when it was US$358 mfbm.

Compared to the same week last year, when it was US$447 mfbm, that week’s price is down -$77, or -17%. Compared to two years ago when it was $760, that week’s price is down by -$390, or -51%.
