Metrie® Announces Chief Information Officer Transition
Metrie®, North America’s largest manufacturer and distributor of millwork solutions, is pleased to announce the appointment of Sarah Shortreed as Chief Information Officer (CIO), commencing September 3, 2024. In this role, Ms. Shortreed will be responsible for maintaining a robust and secure information technology (IT) infrastructure and developing future IT strategies that will enable the continued growth of Metrie. Ms. Shortreed will be taking over the role currently held by Ian Banks. Mr. Banks will be taking on an acquisition integration role before retiring in 2026.
With a long career in engineering, technology consulting, project management, operations, procurement, planning and innovation, Ms. Shortreed has a proven track record of driving successful technology implementations and corporate risk management across a variety of industries from nuclear energy, pipelines, telecommunications, and technology; and in increasingly senior roles. She has also contributed to Boards and Advisory committees for organizations such as IBM, Salesforce, Western University, Conference Board of Canada, International Women’s Forum, among others; as well as various theatres; and careers and skills-building organizations.
“Firstly, I am excited to welcome Sarah to Metrie and my leadership team,” commented Kent Bowie, President & CEO, Metrie. “She has vast experience in operations and logistics industries; and in roles that support and influence all other functions of their business. She is not just a technology leader, but also a business leader.”
“Secondly, this appointment showcases the robust governance model and succession planning Metrie has established. Ian has been a fantastic technology leader for us for 11 years. Being able to apply his project management skills to some acquisition integration work before his well-deserved retirement will ensure we have a smooth technology leadership transition and superior operational outcomes.”
“I am excited to join Metrie and support their vision to be the most trusted millwork supplier in North America,” commented Ms. Shortreed. “I have been lucky enough to work for companies that are industry leaders; and in roles where I have been trusted to develop and execute leading-edge technology strategies that deliver long-term growth. I look forward to doing the same at Metrie.”
