The seasonal wind-down proceeded apace this week, with players increasingly distracted by the prospect of relaxing with family and friends over the Holiday break. Commodity prices were largely flat or close to the previous week’s levels.

In the week ending December 13, 2024, the price of benchmark softwood lumber item Western Spruce-Pine-Fir 2×4 #2&Btr KD (RL) was US$465 mfbm. This is down -$10, or -2%, from the previous week when it was $475, said weekly forest products industry price guide newsletter Madison’s Lumber Reporter.

That week’s price is up +$4, or +1%, from one month ago when it was $461.

Compared to the same week last year, when it was US$414 mfbm, that week’s price was up +$51, or +12%. Compared to two years ago when it was $390, that week’s price was up +$75, or +19%.

In the week ending December 13, 2024, the price of Southern Yellow Pine East Side 2×4 #2&Btr KD (RL) was US$370 mfbm. This is down -$5, or -1%, from the previous week when it was $375.

That week’s price is down -$54, or -13%, from one month ago when it was $424.

When compared to the same week last year, when it was $460, that week’s price was down -$90, or -20%. Compared to two years ago when it was $425, that week’s price was down -$55, or -13%.
