Ronald M. Guzior Promoted to CEO/President of Richards Building Supply

Richards Building Supply, a leading wholesale distributor of building supplies including roofing, siding, windows & doors, cabinets, rainware and more, announced today the promotion of Ronald M. Guzior to the position of CEO/President. Named by Chairman Richard J. Guzior (father), and Co-founder Christine E. Guzior (mother), Ron’s responsibilities include leadership of Sales/Operations via Regional Vice Presidents, Purchasing and continued oversight of Human Resources and Marketing.

The first family member to hold this position since Richard J. trusted various outside industry executives and internal leadership to grow the company dating back to 2004, Ron is taking over the position held by William (“Bill”) Swanson, who held the reins as President for two years in anticipation of this return to family leadership. Bill humbly accepted the role to lead knowing ownership desires to have a family owned and family managed company expanding from the foundation Richard J. Guzior has built. The company has gained perspective from Bill’s decades of C-suite executive-level leadership in family-held businesses, private equity companies, and franchise organizations outside of the building supply industry.

Founder and patriarch Richard J. Guzior commented, “We are grateful for Bill’s commitment to the company and his efforts to challenge continuous improvement and strengthen the company’s long-term prosperity.” Richard added, “Christine and I thank God for blessing our family of employees, customers, vendors, and communities in which we serve.”

Bill will report to Ron and continue to work closely with him to assure a smooth transition for the company, while also driving a newly defined long-term role for himself. Bill will lead Legal, Safety, Fleet, Risk Management/Insurance, and Branch Expansion (greenfield locations and acquisitions) while IT, Credit, Finance, and Accounting will continue to be led by CFO Theodore (“Ted”) M. Dometita. Ted will continue to report to Bill until the transition is complete.

Bill commented, “It’s been a pleasure to lead the team to this point, and I look forward to continuing the momentum in the role of Executive Vice President. I plan to build on the relationships and trust the organization has placed in me to bring the company forward as led by Ron.”

Guzior and (departed but not forgotten) Godfather Richard Sawilchik.
