For the third consecutive year, Hammond recognized as one the best places of employment

Hammond Lumber Company (Hammond) has been named one of the Best Places to Work in Maine for the third year in a row and a Best Company to Work For in New Hampshire for the first time. These statewide survey and award programs are designed to identify, recognize, and honor the best places of employment.

“We are tremendously honored and proud to be named a Best Place to Work in Maine for the third consecutive year and a Best Company to Work for in New Hampshire,” said Mike Hammond, president and CEO of Hammond Lumber Company. “This achievement is a testament to the unwavering dedication of our employees. Their engagement and commitment continue to drive us forward and strengthen our company culture. We recognize that a fulfilling work experience is not just about the tasks we accomplish, but the relationships we build and the values we uphold.”

The 2023 Best Places to Work in Maine list is made up of 134 companies in three size categories: 41 small winners (15-49 U.S. employees), 68 medium winners (50-249 U.S. employees), and 27 large winners (250+ U.S. employees). Hammond is one of the 27 winners in the large employer category with over 900 employees across Maine and New Hampshire. Companies from across the state entered the two-part process to determine the Best Places to Work in Maine. The first consisted of evaluating each nominated company’s workplace policies, practices, and demographics, worth approximately 25 percent of the total evaluation. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience, which consisted of 75 percent of the total. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final rankings. Best Companies Group managed the overall registration and survey process and analyzed the data and used their expertise to determine the final rankings. The Best Places to Work in Maine awards program is a project of the Maine State Council of the Society for Human Resource Management and Best Companies Group, in partnership with BridgeTower Media. The Best Places to Work in Maine event endorsement sponsors are Maine HR Convention and Mainebiz.

Employees from each company also filled out an employee engagement survey. Both surveys were administered by The Employee Engagement Group, and the results of all those assessments determined the winning companies.
