Madison’s Reporter: Lumber Prices Boost Slightly to Start 2024

In the week ending January 5, 2024, the price of Western S-P-F 2×4 #2&Btr KD (RL) was US$452 mfbm, said forest products industry price guide newsletter Madison’s Lumber Reporter. This is up by +$38, or +9%, compared to the previous week when it was $414.

That week’s price is up by +$41, or +10%, from one month ago when it was US$411 mfbm.

Compared to the same week last year, when it was US$352 mfbm, that week’s price is up by +$100, or +28%. Compared to two years ago when it was US$1,100 mfbm, that week’s price is down by -$648 or -59%.

In the week ending January 5, 2024, the price of Southern Yellow Pine East Side 2×4 #2&Btr KD (RL) was US$470 mfbm. This is up by +$10, or +2%,  from the previous week when it was US$460 mfbm.

That week’s price is up by +$18, or +4%, from one month ago when it was US$453 mfbm.

Compared to the same week last year, when it was US$395 mfbm, that week’s price is up by +$75, or +19%. Compared to two years ago when it was US$1,390 mfbm, that week’s price is down by -$920, or -66%.
