The double holiday period apparently downplayed demand levels, but players were adamant that firm prices and balanced supply indicated a simmering market ready to advance.
In the week ending May 24, 2024, the price of Western S-P-F 2×4 #2&Btr KD (RL) was US$384 mfbm, said forest products industry price guide newsletter Madison’s Lumber Reporter. This is up +$1, or +0%, from the previous week when it was $384.
That week’s price is down -$46, or -11%, from one month ago when it was US$430 mfbm.
Compared to the same week last year, when it was US$350 mfbm, that week’s price is up +$34, or +10%. Compared to two years ago when it was $901, that week’s price is down by -$517, or -57%.
In the week ending May 24, 2024, the price of Southern Yellow Pine East Side 2×4 #2&Btr KD (RL) was US$365 mfbm. This is up +$10, or +3%, from the previous week when it was US$355 mfbm.
