Some glimmers of hope appeared with spruce and hem/fir dimension lumber sales; demand for panels continued to languish by comparison.

In the week ending July 19, 2024, the price of Western S-P-F 2×4 #2&Btr KD (RL) was US$330 mfbm, said forest products industry price guide newsletter Madison’s Lumber Reporter. This is down -$2, or -1%, from the previous week when it was $332.

That week’s price is down -$38, or -10%, from one month ago when it was US$368 mfbm.

When compared to the same week last year, when it was $458, this week’s price is down -$126, or -28%. Compared to two years ago when it was $664, this week’s price is down -$334, or -50%.

In the week ending July 19, 2024, the price of Southern Yellow Pine East Side 2×4 #2&Btr KD (RL) was US$350 mfbm. This is up +$10, or +3%,from the previous week when it was US$340 mfbm.

That week’s price is down -$8, or -2%, from one month ago when it was US$358 mfbm.

When compared to the same week last year, when it was $425, this week’s price is down -$75, or -18%. Compared to two years ago when it was $725, this week’s price is down -$375, or -52%.
