Overall supply was increasingly limited, and commodity prices were firm or up. Buyers found it more difficult to hesitate even while they waited for the results of the upcoming US presidential election.

In the week ending October 25, 2024, the price of benchmark softwood lumber item Western Spruce-Pine-Fir 2×4 #2&Btr KD (RL) was US$408 mfbm. This is up +$6, or +1%, from the previous week when it was $402, said weekly forest products industry price guide newsletter Madison’s Lumber Reporter.

That week’s price is up +$5, or +1%, from one month ago when it was $404.

Compared to the same week last year, when it was US$380 mfbm, that week’s price was up +$28, or +7%. Compared to two years ago when it was $480, that week’s price was down -$72, or -15%.

In the week ending October 25, 2024, the price of Southern Yellow Pine East Side 2×4 #2&Btr KD (RL) was US$485 mfbm. This is up +$10, or +2%, from the previous week when it was $475.

That week’s price is up +$85, or +21%, from one month ago when it was $400.
