WTG Announces New Vice President of Operations: Matt Ferguson

Wildwood Trading Group (WTG) proudly announces the promotion of Matt Ferguson to Vice President of Operations, marking a significant milestone in the company’s continued growth and success.

Matt began his journey with WTG as Lead Sawyer at our Portland Reload Facility, bringing extensive mechanical expertise from his experience in ocean-going ship repairs for NOAA and the Navy. Under the mentorship of the late John Reger, a founding member and former VP of Operations, Matt quickly established himself as a vital part of WTG’s leadership pipeline, demonstrating a strong commitment to operational excellence and innovation.

Following John’s untimely passing, Matt stepped in to help sustain and advance WTG’s growth strategy. Transitioning to the Tualatin sales office as a lumber trader, he strengthened customer relationships, managed unit saw installations in California and Texas, and oversaw operations at the Portland Reload Facility.

As Vice President of Operations, Matt will lead sales growth in the Southwestern market, including California and Arizona, while enhancing WTG’s product offerings, such as Green and Dry Doug Fir and specialty products. In addition, he will oversee reload and remanufacturing operations and drive expansion initiatives across WTG’s growing footprint. His promotion reflects WTG’s commitment to cultivating leadership from within and advancing our core pillars: sawmill production, remanufacturing, distribution, transportation, and forward pricing.
