Madison’s Reporter: Lumber Sales Increase as Spring Comes On, Tariff Uncertainty Continues

Commodity prices were all over the map as tariffs came on then were quickly removed, and kicked back down the road to April 2nd.
In the week ending March 07, 2025, the price of benchmark softwood lumber item Western Spruce-Pine-Fir 2×4 #2&Btr KD (RL) was US$535 mfbm. This is up +$10, or +2%,from the previous week when it was $525, said weekly forest products industry price guide newsletter Madison’s Lumber Reporter.
That week’s price is up +$53, or +11%, from one month ago when it was $483.
Compared to the same week last year, when it was US$442 mfbm, that week’s price was up +$93, or +19%. Compared to two years ago when it was $400, that week’s price was up +$135, or +34%.
In the week ending March 07, 2025, the price of Southern Yellow Pine East Side 2×4 #2&Btr KD (RL) was US$460 mfbm. This is up +$5, or +1%, from the previous week when it was $465.
That week’s price is up +$13, or +3%, from one month ago when it was $448.

When compared to the same week last year, when it was $410, that week’s price was up +$50, or +11%. Compared to two years ago when it was $507, that week’s price was down -$47, or -9%.
