LMC Joins Forces with NLBMDA to Champion the Future of the LBM Industry on Capitol Hill

In a pivotal move for the lumber and building materials (LBM) industry, LMC President & CEO, Paul Ryan and LMC Director Jim McMenamin took an active role in the 2025 Spring Meeting & Legislative Conference hosted by the National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association (NLBMDA),. Held in Washington, D.C., the event brought together passionate LBM leaders from across the country—each determined to make their voice heard in the Halls of Congress.
Many LMC Dealers were among the attendees, proudly representing their businesses and communities during a packed day of Congressional meetings and policy discussions. With an unwavering commitment LMC’s representatives joined Dealers in meeting with Congressional offices in a single, action-packed day of advocacy.
Before setting out for their meetings, attendees—including the LMC delegation—were briefed by NLBMDA’s Government Affairs Coordinator, Matthew Delaney, and political correspondent Andrew Desiderio of Punchbowl News. They came armed with well-honed messaging around four critical legislative priorities:
- Affordable Housing Solutions: Backing the Affordable Housing Credit Improvement Act (H.R.2725) to drive growth and accessibility in the housing market.
- Credit Card Swipe Fee Reform: Supporting the Credit Card Competition Act, a bipartisan push to level the playing field for small businesses facing high transaction fees.
- Small Business Tax Relief: Urging Congress to extend key tax provisions like 100% bonus depreciation and preserve Section 199A, crucial for LBM dealers nationwide.
- Forest Management Policy: Advocating for the Fix Our Forests Act and Disaster Reforestation Act to support sustainable forestry practices and reduce the impact of natural disasters on supply chains.
The energy didn’t stop after the Hill visits. Day two of the conference featured key insights from influential voices, including Congressman Gabe Evans and House Majority Whip Tom Emmer. Their direct engagement with the NLBMDA—and by extension, LMC—underscored the importance of the LBM industry’s voice in shaping policy.
LMC’s presence wasn’t just symbolic—it was strategic. As the supply chain continues to evolve and challenges persist in housing affordability, labor shortages, and regulatory pressure, LMC’s commitment to public policy advocacy signals its deep investment in the industry’s long-term vitality.
As the dust settles from a successful conference, the work continues. With NLBMDA already re-engaging with Congressional offices, LMC is doubling down on its mission to empower dealers, promote sustainable industry practices, and ensure that the voices of independent businesses echo through the halls of government.
